The Roman Amphitheater in Ohrid, Europe is a Great Travel Destination
This is the amphitheater of Ohrid. Our guide told us that it was uncovered quite recently; in the 1980’s and it is really well preserved. This was because it was buried by the locals after the adoption of Christianity.
It may have been used for Gladiator battles and many Christians may have been killed there; which probably was a reason for the people from Ohrid to despise it and bury it.
Stones with the name of the Greek god Dionisius inscribed on them have been found nearby; so it may have been dedicated to him. Today it is used for performances and concerts every summer, and we managed to visit one of them during our stay in Ohrid last year.
